Yan Zhang Ph.D.

Yan Zhang has over 15 years of experience in commercial leadership, product management, and marketing in top life science companies across the US and Asia. She has led high-performing teams across research, clinical, and applied markets, with deep expertise in genomic technologies, strategic marketing, commercialization, international market development, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation and business growth.

Dr. Patrick Schmidt

Group Leader Transgenic T Cell Therapy, DKFZ

Dr. rer. nat. Patrick Schmidt is a senior scientist with 20 years of experience in CAR-T research. He completed his undergraduate studies in Developmental Biology and Genetics at the University of Cologne, earning his diploma in 2005. He conducted his Ph.D. research in Hinrich Abken's lab, developing anti-melanoma CARs, and finished in 2008. This was followed by a three-year DFG fellowship-sponsored postdoctoral position at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland. In 2014, Patrick joined the Department of Medical Oncology at the National Center of Tumor Diseases Heidelberg, led by Dirk Jäger. He is currently a research group leader and head of ATMP manufacturing, affiliated with the University Hospital Heidelberg and the German Cancer Research Center.

Mr. Ryan Chu

Application Support Manager, Bruker Cellular Analysis

Ryan Chu is the Application Support Manager at Bruker Cellular Analysis, where he is dedicated to assisting researchers in areas such as cancer immunology, cell therapy, infectious diseases, and cell line development through advanced single-cell analysis technologies. He has a solid background in life sciences and pharmaceuticals; prior to his current role, he led an application support team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, providing high-level technical support and training for flow cytometry, cell sorting, high-content screening, and a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation.

In addition to his laboratory expertise, Ryan is knowledgeable in ISO 17025 compliance systems and quality assurance management, skills he developed during his time in the pharmaceutical industry. Committed to customer success and scientific innovation, Ryan effectively connects cutting-edge tools with practical research workflows to advance biomedicine.

Dr. Jay Yang

Sr. Director of Business Development, SynBio and Biopharma, Twist Bioscience

Dr. Jay Yang is a seasoned biotechnology professional specializing in antibody discovery and development. He currently serves as the APAC Sr. Business Development Director at Twist Bioscience, where he focuses on synthetic biology and biopharma solutions . Dr. Yang holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto, providing him with a robust foundation in molecular biology and protein engineering. His career includes senior roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he contributed to significant revenue growth and product portfolio revitalization.
